LENT By: Alexandra
"Turn away from sin and cling onto the gospel". The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday we get ashes on our foreheads as a symbol of saying sorry for our sins. Lent is a time when Jesus went into the desert for forty days and forty nights. He was tempted by the devil to eat and drink but, Jesus was strong enough to say "NO". This made Jesus strong because it made him feel like he can go on with life without those things. Jesus also died for us to cleanse us of our sins. During the time of Lent some Christians like to fast. Fasting means to not eat a certain type of food for the forty days. For example, chocolate, meat, fish, and eggs. You can also give up a good deed that you would like to do. For example, not bullying someone, or being nice to people. We, as Catholics, love Jesus, and want to show him that we can make sacrifices too. I gave up T.V. for lent because that is something I do a lot. Make sure you thank God for all of the things he has done for you.
Hi Alexandra!
ReplyDeleteWhat I liked about your paragraph is that you used a quote and you explained most of the things you talked about. Something that you can improve on is using stronger adjectives when you are describing the way someone feels. Over all, your paragraph was brilliant!
