Homework is a waste of time.

It's not that I loved homework but I loved free time more. I believe homework is a waste of time because of the increase of stress, lack of sleep, and headaches. In this essay I will explain why homework is a waste of time do to the safety of our children in our society.
Lack of sleep, this is a problem for kids and parents. This is caused for of them because if the children get a really hard math sheets or a bunch a very hard question's and they can't get it. They ask their parents to help but if the parents don't even get the question themselves then they might stay up until 3:00 in the morning. On top of that if their parents have to get up really early in the morning like at 5:45 like my mother they will be very tired and might sleep in the job get in a car accident or even get fired by their own boss for messing something up something. This also relates to the child's day as well like if they wake up late for school and miss their bus they are going to be very late, and if they have a test that day and they feel like a zombie they might fail the test and their parents might yell at them.
Furthermore headaches, which is when your head hurts really badly. Headaches are caused by a certain amount of stress which hurts and torments the kids. They can also get it by not eating a lot in a large amount of time. This can happen if one day they have a ton of homework and they don't won't to do it they just want to play their video games like most kids, but the kids parents said you have to do your homework first. The kid probably would get really mad and start fuming and turning all red. After they might stomp up the stairs and lock themselves in their own room until l the next morning. Locking yourself in you room for a very long time can torture you and your parents.
Moreover increase of stress. The increase of stress can decrease your life span. Homework is a major stress causer for intermediate and teenager students because after school they just want to go out with their friend and go see a movie or such .They also probably want to go on Facebook msn or text the night away. Then when they get back or finish whatever they are doing they found out that they had to right an entire essay they start to stress out and speed threw it for the sake of getting it done and there work is really sloppy. Stress can shorten your life depending on the amount of stress. This is proven by scientists.
I do think homework is a waste of time for the issues such as high level of stress, people not getting insignificant amount of sleep, and the injury concerns for our community. So is homework a waste of time? Well I say yes so come on together we can end homework forever.

LENT

Lent

What is lent? Lent is when you give something up that you like or that
you are addicted to. Lent is approximately 40 days sometimes more or less which goes all the way to easter. We do this every year to show are remembrance of what Jesus himself did for us, especially Catholics
we celebrate lent to show our respect and our remembrance of his awesomeness. Jesus went into the hot dry death pit desert and stayed there for forty days and forty nights without eating or drinking , and
with no communications the whole time he was in there. There was also a devil who came out of nowhere and tempted Jesus to eat or drink the things that the brought, but Jesus refused, and risisted his
temptations to show his power and strength. The day before lent iscalled shrove Tuesday which is also known as pancake day. Yummy! Lent starts on Ash Wednesday when Catholics go to church and receive ashes on their foreheads. During lent some chritians do not eat meat like fish, eggs, and milky food items. The ashes represent mortality, and the ashes are made out of burned up palm leaves. To me lent is a time for giving something that you are addicted to and not using it for forty days. For lent I'm probably going to give up an electronicdevice or junk food to show my respect for Jesus. I think lent is important because it helps us be stronger in our minds and our spirit by not needing anything.

ILITE

I.L.I.T.E
Ilite is a thing when intermediate students across the school board go to a school or high school to learn about how to be a good leader. Ilite stands for intermediate students in training event. I think
Ilite is a great opportunity for intermediate students to learn and have fun about the rolls that leaders play. On Friday we went to Blessed Mother Theresa high school. We took a school bus their which was awesome. When we got there we had to all sit in this cramped square with a bunch of kids from different schools. After that we got are name tags and we headed of to the workshops that we had to go to.
The first workshop that I went to was Creating a Circle of Hope. This workshop was about this girl Meagan and another girl Hailey who bothsuffered leukemia, a type of cancer, and what we can do to help the other kids who are suffering the exact same thing that they suffered. The workshop was okay, they mostly kept talking on, and on, and on.The only thing that was pretty cool was that we got to make papercranes. I made a red one that was the best one in my opinion.
The second workshop that I went to was positive gears. This presentation was the one I least enjoyed because of some of these reasons. Firstly we had to play this weird clapping game which was
really boring. Also we had to play this game where we had to hold ethers hands and squeeze it like a chain reaction.
The best part of this Ilite experience was that at lunch we got free pizza and juice. This was also stupendous because we didn't have to right an entire essay on this field trip. This trip helped me
understand that being a leader is not something big that you do it is something small and others see what you are doing and do the same thing.

Zoink'd essay

Title: Craziest show ever, Zoink'd
Name: Justin L
Teacher: Ms. Babb
Date: 12/12/11
Craziest show ever, Zoink'd
Ready to explode, and be famous, on live TV Zoink'd the craziest, wackiest, and entertaining show ever created. A show were adults showoff their talent like dancing, singing, and noise imitations. This
show is packed with insane talents, mean judges, humongous studio, and awesome host. I wish that I could watch the show twenty four seven, or until I pass out on the ground.
Would you want to be a live audience for a crazy whacky and entertaining show? Well I would certainly would want to. Zoink'd an exciting show were adults shoe off there insane and weird talents to
impress the tuff judges, and if they do the winner wins 1000 dollars. The show was really fascinating and totally hilarious, because some of the adults got slimed with a blue slimy, sticky, substance. It was very interesting watching some of the insane talents. A TV shows were kids judge adults instead of adults judging kids has to be good, and breathtaking. Zoink'd was a very exquisite, dazzling, and a magnificent experience for anybody to enjoy. I wish I could be on Zoink'd every episode maybe even be a judge on the show would be awesome, or maybe in a few years' time I could show off my spectacular, and dramatic talents.
The judges on the show were all pretty young and definitely very mean. The judges were Natalie, Wyse, Aleksa, and Neal. I would have picked different judges instead of those kids. Let's forget the judges
for now and move onto the contestants. All of the contestants were all very gifted in their own special way, and watching all of the perform blinded me with amazement. I also enjoyed watching the dude when he
put a bean in his mouth and make it come out of his eye. That was so creepy. Some of the other acts that I was stunned by were juggling, singing while playing a guitar, noise imitations, and whistling. Last but certainly not last I was blown away by the dancing act not the dude that dressed like a random bear. That act was the atomic bomb it was so cool when he crossed his legs and turned upside down on onehand. The host was really funny, and  pouring with energy he was a really great host. His name was Adam and he was a pretty cool guy to 0phang out with. All of the contestants and host were amazing and maybe one or two of the judges.
The studio were they shot the show was really interesting when I first walked into it. There were a million bright flashing lights, lots of cameras, and loads of people running around the set getting things in place, and cleaning up after the slime. In the studio there was a big pink tube sticking out of the ground that shot out tons of Ping-Pong balls with happy faces on them. There was also a big blue tube that shot out pink and blue steamers. My favourite one was a squared shape tube that was above the contestants that was coloured green and shot out nasty blue slime. During the breaks/intermission Josh would come out and ask us (The Students) If we had our own talents and show it to the audience, and when you were done he would hand out whoopee cushions, or a YTV mouse pad. Zoink'd probably the best show for people to watch and enjoy zany and insane talent
Dazzling talent, critical judges, and a hilarious host, man this show is jam packed with fabulous things. Zoink'd is probably the best TVshow invented by a bunch of insane people in a good way) If I had to
choose either Zoink'd or all the candy in th e world. I would probably choose Zoink'd because I don't want a zillion of cavities. Zoink'dnothing can describe this madness. Don't even try to.

Matthew 5: 13
Salt and Light

In this parable it talks about somebody being a leader and what
happens to him when he loses his leadership. Salty also refers to
being a leader in this parable for the whole human race which means
everyone, but if the leader does something bad, foolish, or wrong that
person loses his leadership no one will listen to him, trust him, or
believe in him anymore and he cannot become a leader again, because
the people don't trust or rely on him. Then when the person lost his
leadership and he's thrown out on the streets. He becomes worthless
and people ignore him and walk around him, and don't bother to give
him any respect.
I think in this parable Jesus is trying to say if you are a leader
don't be foolish otherwise people won't believe you anymore and stop
listening to you. I also think that he meant once you are a leader,
and you blow your shot there's no way of becoming a leader again
because all of the people that believed found a new leader and trust
the new one now.

Paradise Treasures Found At Teen Ranch

Paradise Treasures
Found At Teen Ranch

There is a place 1h 5min from Toronto lies a spectacular ranch bathing in the magnificent, glowing sunset of the fiery red sun as it sets past the tall mountains, and that is Teen Ranch. Teen Ranch a fun and educational experience of living as a community, for all ages. Whether its day or night Teen Ranch is pact with exciting activities, food, and spot less cabins. Teen Ranch is your number 1 destination.

At Teen Ranch the food was spectacular and out of this world. Some of the food we had there where perogies, spaghetti, subs, ribs, chicken, eggs, sausage, and many more delicious mouth watering delightful food. I liked all the food there because it was tasty, flavourful, and when they served the food it wasn't cold or warm it was nice and hot. They served us great portions of the food, and we could go get seconds if we wanted to. I thought they were trying to fatten us up and then roast us. I also really liked the desserts they served such as worms in dirt, ice cream, cookies (chocolate & oatmeal) and a lot of other supreme delectable desserts. The food at the ranch was just like at home cooking, and tasted just like my parents cooking. I would visit Teen Ranch just to have some more of their fantastic, splendid, and stupendous food/desserts.

During the period we were at Teen Ranch we had a real blast with all the wonderful activities. Horseback riding is definitely one of the most exciting things we did, because it was really fun when they told us we were going to go horseback riding, but when I got on the horse (Jazz) I got a little scared. When we started to move I was still a bit nerves, but after a while I became more and more comfortable. We rode two times while we were there at the ranch. On the second time our horses did a slow jog (trot) which felt like a massage to me, because we kept bumping up and down repeatedly. Another breathtaking activity we did on the ranch was skating. Skating was really awesome, because I haven't skated in a long, long time. It was really exiting getting back on the smooth cold ice. I really enjoyed skating again. Sometime soon I hope to go skating again. Lastly we played predator and pray which was a magnificent experience on living in the forest/wild. It was loads of fun chasing people in the forest, and I wish we could have played the game longer.

During the night we still had lots of fun playing different activities in the dark under the stars. One of the activities we did was a movie night were we watched the "Karate Kid," the movie. The movie was the atomic bomb. We also had a video dance party night which was okay for me, because I don't really like to dance, but for others I'm sure they were having their time of there lives. On the last night we were there we had a tremendous bonfire. The bonfire was really spectacular, because we were able to roast hotdogs, and toast marshmallows above the flaming red hot fire. At the bonfire it was practically pitch black except for our flashlights and the bonfire which made it a bit brighter. It was also really cold for me at the bonfire I was freezing, because I wasn't sitting or standing near the warm fire. All the night time activities we did there were excellent. If I had to rate all the night time activities out of 10 I would give it a 9.5 just because the dance to me wasn't really that superb.

When we first barged into our cabins the first thing we saw was the washroom and the two rooms. The cabin smelled pretty good for a cabin right beside a bunch of horses. I called the top bunk as well as Ethan, Nicholas Y, and Simon. Kyle and Nicholas P took the bottom bunks. We had a pretty good cabin, as well as a magnificent cabin buddies. During free time we would never stay in the cabin, because we would be looking for something fun and interesting to do instead. At night we would talk about things or play with our flashlights. Living in a cabin with other people was a very fun experience (not a first.) I like living in a cabin with other people, because it's find of boring in a room with no one else to talk with. To live with other people it forces you a bit to find out things about you buddies, and to get to know each other better. Staying in a cabin was a real fun pleasure, but I wish we could have stayed there just a few more days.

Incredible activities, flavourful food, and a great learning experience for everyone. Teen Ranch, the best place for you to go to in the whole galaxy when there's nothing to do. A place such as this so far from here lounging is the beautiful sun should have a second location closer to us. Would you rather stay there for ever or go back to school?

John McCrae

John McCrae

"We are the dead," is a quote by John McCrae. He said this because he knew that he would probably die sooner or later. John McCrae was born and raised in Guelf, Ontario on November 30, 1872, and died of pneumonia on January 28, 1918. John McCrae was a medical doctor who wrote "In Flanders Fields." He was educated at the University Of Toronto. But in 1900 he was appointed fellow in pathology at McGill University in Montreal. He was not a newcomer to war because he had already served in a artillery during (1899-1900) in Subaltern. Soon after World War 1 started he was enlisted for the war. On June 1, 1995 John McCrae was transferred to No.3 Canadian General Hospital. John McCrae was put as officer in charge of medication. On December 8, 1995 punch magazine published "In Flanders Fields" In my opinion I think John McCrae is an excellent poet, because I think he expressed his true feelings, and what he thought about war in the poem he wrote "In Flanders Fields." I think he was a very brave and loyal medical doctor, because he had to watch some of his comrade's die on the battle, and look at the people coming in for treatment that are gushing blood out, and you can see their raw flesh because of all the fighting. John McCrae is one of the bravest medical doctor, and awesome poet ever.
