He's still a dictator
What if everything in your life was picked out for you, but it was the life you didn't want? That's exactly how Heather's life is; the way she doesn't want it. Mr. Hoodhood is the most deliberately devious dad and dictator ever dealt with. His kids hate him for billions of reasons, and he probably doesn't even care. Not that his son played a part in The Tempest, not that he personally knows Horace Clarke and Joe Pepitone, but most of all he doesn't care that his daughter wants to go to college. It's actually a fact that when she told him that she was going to college he replied "No you're not... You start working for me on Monday". If I had written the book I would have said that Heather was the epitome of all anger, but that's just my opinion. And Mr. Hoodhood does all of this to show his kids that he only wants his own way. And that the only thing that he cares about is work. Would you ever act that way?

Kowalski vs. Hoodhood
Imagine a completely heartless dictator, Mr. Hoodhood, and then imagine a dictator who actually cares, Mr. Kowalski. In this chapter Mr. Kowalski starts of just like my description of Mr. Hoodhood, a heartless dictator. They were both willing to do anything to be the best architect, which is exactly what Mr. Kowalski attempts to do. Mr. Kowalski tried to steal Mr. Hoodhood's design inch by inch of the model. I don't know if it was the anger in Mr. Hoodhood's face, the amount of trouble he had put Holling in or the fact that his own daughter wouldn't even talk to him, but Mr. Kowalski took back his design. This leaves me wondering what Mr. Hoodhood would have done if the situation was switched. If you think about it the way that I do Mr. Hoodhood wouldn't have cared at all, he would be a dictator about the whole thing. And that's the difference between Mr. Kowalski and Mr. Hoodhood; one would care and the other wouldn't. That's what Ilike about this book; it leaves you wondering what will happen next. What would you have done if you were Mr. Kowalski?

What is Lent?

Lent is when you give up one of the biggest temptations that you have in your life and give it up for forty days.  Some people might ask why should I give something like that up. You should give something up for
lent because Jesus went into the desert for forty days and forty nights with no food or water and was tempted by the devil himself and resisted the devils temptations. That's why as Catholics and any
other form of Christianity we celebrate lent as a reminder of whatJesus did for us. So every year on Ash Wednesday all Christians receive ashes on their foreheads and then decide what they are going to give up for lent. Jesus didn't just go into the desert for no reasons he went to make himself stronger. He could have turned a rock into bread but he wasn't going to be tempted. He had the power to turn anything into food if he wanted to but he went to the desert with a purpose and he kept that purpose and he made himself stronger. Not like stronger in muscles but stronger as in he could fight any
temptation that he had. So now you know why we celebrate lent.

Teen Ranch is Paradise

Name: Kyle
Date: Friday November 25, 2011
Teacher: Ms. Babb

Would you ever live at Teen Ranch? Most people don't know what or where Teen Ranch is. It is just a few kilometers away from Orangeville. People get to go skating, horseback riding, rock climbing and more. People actually do live there and get to do everything there. The staff makes you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Teen Ranch is one of my favourite places to be. Teen Ranch is the best place in the world.

One of the many reasons why I would want to stay at Teen Ranch is because of the food. We had dessert after every meal except for breakfast because we usually had a big breakfast. For breakfast we had stuff like bacon, cereal, pancakes, bacon, eggs, and English muffin. We had a few different desserts like worms in dirt, cookies, and ice cream. Every mealtime the staff would ring a bell so that everyone would know to come to the dining hall. Every day there would be a group of people set up for the meals, then clean up, and they would also take your plate. The portion sizes were great. The food was always nutritious because they always served lots of vegetables. I wish I could eat the food there forever. Cabin life was the smallest part of the trip, but also a pretty fun part of the trip. I was in cabin ten with Justin L., Nicholas Y., Simon, Ethan, Nicholas P., Ducky, and me. If you are wondering who Ducky is, he is Simon's stuffed duck. We had to wake up to one alarm because we only brought one alarm. You have to keep your cabin clean. You have to keep your stuff clean. If you do something bad your teacher will drive you home even though how far it is. If you have pests or friends you have to stick with them.

After riding a horse I feel like I could ride one anywhere I go. I learned all the basics to riding a horse. I got to go horseback riding twice and I got to go skating twice. I got to set a record for rock climbing. Which only three people beat so I set the fourth place record. I had lots of fun riding a horse and doing wilderness skills. I learned how to survive and a new way to get around.

Would you do activities in the night? We had a video dance party, a movie night, and a bonfire. At the bonfire every one roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. We sang a few campfire songs and told ghost stories. At the movie night we watched the movie named "Karate Kid." Some people at the movie actually fell asleep. At Teen Ranch we always had something fun to do before bed.

Teen Ranch has the best food and incredible activities. Teen Ranch is so fun because of all the activities. There was never a boring moment. Teen Ranch is the best place one the world. I will remember Teen Ranch forever .It was honestly heaven on earth.

John McCrae                                                                                                                                                          Many years ago John McCrae "lived, felt dawn, and saw sunset glow" these are words from John McCrae's famous poem "In Flanders fields". John McCrae was born and raised in Guelph on November 30, 1872. He died at the age of forty-five on January 28, 1918.When he died it was because he had pneumonia. He was taught at the University of Toronto for one year (1892-1893). He was called into war as a medical doctor to help the soldiers when they were wounded. He was inspired by the war to write his famous poem "In Flanders fields" which he wrote on May 3, 1915. He has several institutions named after him because of what a great person he was. He is also still a very famous Canadian.
