Kris's  Lent

                             Lent to me means honesty, peace, love, hope, Jesus, heaven etc. Lent is a time to make sacrifices and give up things to get closer to the Lord our God. Examples are video games and unhealthy foods. During the time of lent, Catholics are supposed to do three things. They are:Prayer; pray a lot during lent and do it every day or whenever you have time to and it shouldn't be a very long prayer, Alms giving; giving and helping to the poor and needy (giving money donations and perishable food donations), and Fasting; giving up on something you don't need like candy, phones, videogames etc. As Catholics lent is a
time for us to do all these things for lent. If you don't try to give up on something or do all of the three things that are supposed to be done during this time, you are not getting any closer to God. During this time of 40 days and nights, Jesus was in the desert with no food and water. The ashes that we get on Ash Wednesday are palms that have been burnt have two meanings: mortality; reminding us that we will die someday, and penitence; reminding us of our sins and our wrongs that we have done and for us to ask God to forgive us for the wrongs we have done.
