Have you ever heard of the word "Zoink'd" and wondered what it meant? It is the name of a show on YTV. The grade sevens and eights in Cardinal Leger got to go the Zoink'd studio at the CBC to be a part of a live audience on TV. I was really excited to meet the people at "Zoink'd" and to see what they did.
"Zoink'd" is a comedy talent show. If the judges didn't like a performance, the performer would be "Zoink'd and slobbered in goo. The best performer in the show would win $1,000 in pennies.
At the studio we met Adam Miller, the host of Zoink'd, and the four judges, Wyse, Natalie, Neal, and Alaska. They were about our age and the contestants were all adults. I also met Carlos, the host of YTV.
Some of the performances were entertaining, but a few of them were disappointing. There was one woman who cried like a baby and made rude noises. She soon got Zoink'd and was slobbered in goo which looked disgusting. There were also some very talented performers. There was a magician who made a lady disappear when she got into a box. Another man swallowed a bead and made it come out of his eye. There was also another man who did awesome break dancing which the judges and everyone in the audience really loved.
The break dancer and the bead guy were the two finalists. The host, Adam, asked us to clap the loudest for the performer we thought should win. We clapped the loudest for the break dancer and he won the $1,000.
I learned a lot during this trip. I never knew how complicated it was to produce a half hour TV show. At one time, when the host had a hair sticking out of place, they had to stop the show just so the make-up artist could fix it. There were four cameras filming the show from different angles and many people were involved in producing the show. The experience I had at the CBC studio was like nothing I had experienced before.
The wonderful host is actually named Adam Christie
