What is Lent?

Lent is when you give up one of the biggest temptations that you have in your life and give it up for forty days.  Some people might ask why should I give something like that up. You should give something up for
lent because Jesus went into the desert for forty days and forty nights with no food or water and was tempted by the devil himself and resisted the devils temptations. That's why as Catholics and any
other form of Christianity we celebrate lent as a reminder of whatJesus did for us. So every year on Ash Wednesday all Christians receive ashes on their foreheads and then decide what they are going to give up for lent. Jesus didn't just go into the desert for no reasons he went to make himself stronger. He could have turned a rock into bread but he wasn't going to be tempted. He had the power to turn anything into food if he wanted to but he went to the desert with a purpose and he kept that purpose and he made himself stronger. Not like stronger in muscles but stronger as in he could fight any
temptation that he had. So now you know why we celebrate lent.
