LENT

Lent

What is lent? Lent is when you give something up that you like or that
you are addicted to. Lent is approximately 40 days sometimes more or less which goes all the way to easter. We do this every year to show are remembrance of what Jesus himself did for us, especially Catholics
we celebrate lent to show our respect and our remembrance of his awesomeness. Jesus went into the hot dry death pit desert and stayed there for forty days and forty nights without eating or drinking , and
with no communications the whole time he was in there. There was also a devil who came out of nowhere and tempted Jesus to eat or drink the things that the brought, but Jesus refused, and risisted his
temptations to show his power and strength. The day before lent iscalled shrove Tuesday which is also known as pancake day. Yummy! Lent starts on Ash Wednesday when Catholics go to church and receive ashes on their foreheads. During lent some chritians do not eat meat like fish, eggs, and milky food items. The ashes represent mortality, and the ashes are made out of burned up palm leaves. To me lent is a time for giving something that you are addicted to and not using it for forty days. For lent I'm probably going to give up an electronicdevice or junk food to show my respect for Jesus. I think lent is important because it helps us be stronger in our minds and our spirit by not needing anything.
Justin.
