Matthew 22: 1-10

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet   

SUMMARY

A king gave a wedding banquet to his son.  He sent his slaves to go and get the people who had been invited. But they refused to come. Again the king sent his slaves to gather those who were invited to the banquet. But the paid no attention to them. Those who were invited came to the king's farm and business and killed all of the slaves. The king was very mad and sent his troops to go and kill the people and destroy their city. Afterwards he told his slaves to go into the streets and gather all of those people who wish to come. Soon the wedding banquet was filled with people and everyone was having a good time.

REFLECTION

        I think Jesus was trying to say that he loves everyone and he wants to invite us all to his party in heaven. Jesus invited everyone to his party. Only some people showed up and the others didn't really care. Jesus was very sad. He loved them and he wanted them to love him by coming to his party.  This was just like when the king invited people to his banquet.  They didn't want to come so he invited anyone who was on the streets. The king was not happy about this just like Jesus.

PRAYER

Dear God,

Help us to accept your invitation into your kingdom. May we be grateful for the blessings you have given us and help us to be kind and generous to each other. Let us not be too busy or distracted to go to your party.
